Awards for All (www.awardsforall.org.uk) have funded a new project at Adult Community ESOL in Rochdale. The funding is for 12 months and will actively help to give residents skills to gain employment.
The ESOL & Employability project is aimed at Entry Level 3 ESOL learners who are unemployed and looking to return to work.
The training is available twice a week, Monday and Thursday for 2 hours, 10.00 – 12.00. The classes will include the language skills required to search for and apply for employment. Please contact 01706 86 85 87 or 01706 868 100 for further information.
Classes start 2nd April 2012 and will run until 31ST March 2013.
Adult Community ESOL is a new Rochdale based charity. Primarily we offer tuition in the English Language. Our tutors are qualified and experienced in delivering ESOL and other essential functional skills and qualifications.
These skills will ultimately assist our learners in gaining employment, community cohesion and a personal satisfaction at reaching a goal.
We also offer Language specific or Employer’s ESOL. Our tutors have worked with NHS Doctors & Nurses, Prison Officers, large and small businesses. We understand the importance of having employees that understand Health & Safety requirements or language that is specific to a particular industry.
We hold classes, workshops and community events for adults whose first language is not English. Rather than have our learners study in a typical classroom environment, we deliver learning in a relaxed, informal atmosphere.
The delivery of ESOL is designed to develop all areas with an emphasis on learning practical language skills that are necessary at home, in the community, and in employment. Learners will be able to improve their speaking, listening, reading and writing as well as their knowledge of living and working in the UK.
Employer’s ESOL can be delivered in the place of work, our learning centre, in the evening or at weekend. Please ring 01706 868 100 for further details.
We will keep our learners informed about the various community networks and provide signposting to other agencies and services.
We actively promote cultural integration and exchange by holding events for storytelling, arts & crafts, lunches and leisure activities.
Everyone has experiences and expertise that they are encouraged to share in a common endeavor – Learning English.
If you're a teacher of ESOL, a community language,
